Pannill-Smith Hall

Virginia Episcopal School
Lynchburg, Virginia

G&H recently completed a new humanities building for Virginia Episcopal School (VES). The program includes collaboration spaces, 12 classrooms, a writing center, faculty offices, and multiple outdoor learning areas. These spaces foster an innovative yet contextually grounded learning environment that encourages collaboration and provides educators with the flexibility to design curricula that reflect the core philosophies of VES.

Echoing the historic Georgian structures from the school’s founding in 1916, the design exhibits a timeless architectural character. Positioned at the heart of campus, the building completes an academic quad and incorporates an amphitheater that responds to the site’s natural slope, creating a seamless transition to the adjacent baseball stadium.
