The Carolina Hotel Public Spaces

The renovation of the public spaces at the Pinehurst Carolina Hotel focused on three key goals: emphasizing the Resort’s renowned hospitality, streamlining the check-in process, and reintroducing its historic charm while integrating modern luxury. Respecting the 100-year-old hotel’s rich history, the design drew inspiration from historic photographs to restore defining character elements, such as original column brackets, window patterns, and spatial layouts.

A refreshed arrival sequence and registration flow were achieved through new entry designs and custom kiosks, complemented by light, natural materials and an updated color palette to create a welcoming atmosphere. The project also included expanded guest amenities, such as a redesigned full-service coffee shop replacing the previous grab-and-go outlet. Custom millwork further defined functional zones, enhancing both aesthetics and utility. This thoughtful approach honors the hotel’s architectural legacy while delivering a warm, modern experience for guests.
