Virginia Episcopal School Master Plan Refresh (2024)

Virginia Episcopal School
Lynchburg, Virginia

Glavé & Holmes Architecture completed an updated Master Plan in 2024 for Virginia Episcopal School, a private college-preparatory school situated on a 160-acre campus in Lynchburg, Virginia. Building upon the team’s original 2016 plan, the updated scope reaffirmed core planning principles while responding to evolving campus needs. Services included existing conditions analysis, revisiting the campus program, multiple concept design studies including cost estimates and implementation strategies.

The 2024 plan continued to emphasize a well-organized campus with clearly defined precincts, cohesive edges, and a strong historic core, while positioning the school for future growth and long-term success.  A key component to the implementation of the master plan’s highest-level initiatives, was the use of historic tax credits, which are being pursued in the rehabilitation of the school’s most important historic resources.
